On Saturday, 18 February, a Student Advising Team field trip was held for Year 1 broad-based students. Led by Dr. Lachlan Barber and Dr. Chiu Hon Chim, along with Dr. Chung Him, Dr. Daphne Mah, and Ms. Tracey Yiu, the group hiked up Lion Rock and learned about the physical and cultural dimensions of the landscape. We were fortunate to experience unseasonably warm and dry weather conditions and good visibility that permitted expansive views from several locations along the trail and on the summit. Several in attendance had never visited Lion Rock before and all agreed that the hike was well worth the effort to gain a new perspective on Kowloon. Amongst the rock formations and vegetation we saw remnants of fortifications from World War II. We also encountered several monkeys along the route. An enjoyable time was had by all!
