Hong Kong Geography Day (HKGD) is the most significant event of the geography education and research community in Hong Kong. This biennial event aims to promote academic exchange and collaboration between faculty members and postgraduates students working in geography and closely-related fields, and to promote geography education in secondary schools.
The theme of HKGD 2018 was ‘Geography and well-being’, encompassing a broad spectrum of topics in geographical research and practice, with the aim of sparking discussion around current and emerging issues and approaches, and identifying gaps in research and teaching.
HKGD was held at the Education University of Hong Kong (the EdUHK) on 24 November 2018 (Saturday). Our Department, as a centre of geography education in the territory, enthusiastically participated in this event. A significant number of our research students participated by presenting their research in seminars and a poster competition. Members of the Department enjoyed learning from our colleagues at other universities, and meeting new and old friends.
