In the academic year 2000-2001, Miss Shum Yi Man, one of our undergraduates enrolled in the China Studies Programme, won the Best Student Research Award from the Hong Kong Geographical Information System Association. Accompanied by her supervisor Prof. Li Si Ming, she was interviewed by reporters from Ming Pao, Sing Tao Daily, etc. on 25 April 2000.

Win Contest with Logistics Study on MTRC-KCRC Merger

On March 20th 2004, Students from Hong Kong Baptist University have won an inter-university contest for a logistics study on a merger between railway corporations, the MTRC and KCRC. The students presented practical solutions and recommendations to judges of the contest which focused on transport and logistics problems of great topical interest. HKBU's winning team consisted of 6 students; among them Tsui Chun-hei(right) is from Geography.

In the academic year of 2004-05. Miss Wong Lok Lam, a Year 1 student of Geography Major, won the following international award on 28 November 2004: 1st Runner-up, Open Ladies Latin, 17th Fox's Cup, International Dancesport Competition, Fox Studio.

Awarded Housing Society Scholarships

Two final year Geography students, Leung Siu-ting and Chan Kin-wing, were awarded a scholarship and a bursary, respectively, by the Hong Kong Housing Society. The awards were offered by the Hong Kong Housing Society to support students with financial need and to encourage them to pursue housing-related studies. The Hon. Michael Suen, Secretary for Housing, Planning and Lands, officiated at the presentation ceremony, held last week. This year 56 awards were granted to students from 13 institutions.
