Scholarships for students of the Department of Geography
Students in this Department are capable to compete for University-wide scholarships on the basis of academic merits and other criteria. Every year around 15 scholarships credited to 15-20 students of the Geography Department to honour their outstanding academic achievements and good services. Among which, several of these scholarships are specially bestowed to geography students, such as the Mrs. Leung Tong Pon-sum Scholarship , Luk Yin Memorial Scholarship, the Royal Geographical Society (with IBG) Hong Kong Dissertation Scholarship, Hong Kong Baptist University Geography Alumni Scholarship, ExxonMobil Scholarship, etc.

The Royal Geographic Society (Hong Kong Branch) have been supporting an Honours Project Scholarship for HK$10,000 for several years. This competitive award is given to students to assist with their project fieldwork, and targets an individual student who proposes to carry out innovative research, either within or outside Hong Kong.

Four awards of $5,000 each donated by the ExxonMobil Energy Limited are available to full-time undergraduate or postgraduate students with outstanding academic results, good character and majoring in Geography (Energy course or China Studies course).

Scholarships donated by the Geography alumni are available to undergraduate students with good academic merits in the Department of Geography (including students in China Studies).

|
An endowment fund of $75,000 donated in 1998 by Mr Luk Siu Keung, a former graduate in Geography, in memory of his father Mr Luk Yin, provides an annual scholarship for a student in Geography major.

The scholarship is set up in commemoration of the Department's former Head, Mrs. Leung Tong Pom-sum, for her over three decades' dedicated services to the Department and the University. The Department is most thankful for the generous contributions made by Mrs. Leung's family and alumni to the setting up of the Scholarship. Two scholarships of $5,000 each donated by the Department are available to two Geography students with academic merits.

A scholarship of $5,000 donated by Dr Larry C H Chow and Mr Alex C Y Chow is available to a final-year student in Geography who has good performance in his/her honours project.
