Employment Statistic of Graduates

The Geography curriculum is specifically designed to train students with a capacity to learn and keep on learning, especially through the skills that they have gained from fieldwork and their honors project studies. Such abilities are a critical aspect sought by prospective employers. Employment surveys conducted by the Placement Centre of the Student Affairs Office have indicated that graduates from the Geography Major and the China Studies Programs have found employment in a wide range of fields, including: education/research, commerce/finance, administration/management, social/community services, and public service within the government. In addition, a substantial number of geography graduates continue to undertake postgraduate studies in Hong Kong and overseas, both in Geography and in related professional fields such as urban planning, environmental management, transport studies, education, and even landscape architecture. The following diagrams portray the broad employment profile of our recent graduates. We are particularly happy that many employers warmly welcome graduates from our Department.
