Alumni's Sharing
Our predecessor, the then History and Geography Department, was established in 1960. Subsequently, in 1978, Geography and History split into two independent departments. Since its initial opening, the Department has trained more than 1500 geography graduates. These former students were employed in a wide range of works and many of them have well-established careers and have contributed significantly to different sectors of society, both locally and overseas. The followings are "shared thoughts" of some of our prominent alumni.

Dr. David W S Wong Associate Professor, Geography and Earth Science, George Mason University
I graduated from HKBC in 1984 with an honours Diploma. The Geography Department at that time was the smallest among all geography departments in higher-education institutions in Hong Kong. However the geography education I received at HKBU was very solid and provided an extremely valuable foundation for my postgraduate education I pursued in the U.S. Now having taught and conducted research in North America for more than a decade, I can testify that the geography education we received at HKBU at that time was first-rated.

Mr. Felix Yim Principal Engineer MVA Asia
The 3-years college life in Geography Department is an unforgettable time. It has brought me a lot of fun, memories(most of them are good ones!) and of course the friends who studied and worked together days and nights. I would say that this is a precious experience of a lifetime.

Lam Wing Man Senior Town Planner Planning Department Hong Kong
Before I joined the Geography Department, the world was small and simple to me. The 3 years of study in the Department not only enriched my view of the world but also provided me occasions to meet people in other parts of the world. Now, as a town planner in Hong Kong, I have the opportunity to paste a few pieces to this collage city from what I have seen and learnt.
