HKBU Distinguished Geography Seminar (27 October 2022)

The Department of Geography held the fifth Distinguished Geography Seminar series on Thursday, 27 October, 2022. Prof. Tim Schwanen from the University of Oxford gave a thought-provoking presentation on the justice of mobility transition and introduced many important concepts such as sociotechnical systems, just transition, distributional justice, recognition justice, and procedural justice. The response of seminar was overwhelming with over 100 audiences. Prof. Schwanen is Director of the Transport Studies Unit, Professor of Transport Geography in the School of Geography and the Environment, and also a Supernumerary Fellow at St Anne's College. Prof. Schwanen is also an editor of Environment and Planning F: Philosophy, Theory, Models, Methods and Practice, the youngest addition to the E&P family, and he serves on the editorial advisory boards of five journals focused on transport and mobility. Since September 2021 he has been a Fellow of the Academy for Social Sciences.
