A delegation from the state key Laboratory of Information Engineering in Surveying, Mapping and Remote Sensing (LIESMARS) at Wuhan University visited our Department on the 6th of December, 2018 to promote academic exchange and research collaboration between the two parties.

The LIESMARS is the first state key laboratory in the field of surveying and mapping in China, pursuing an innovative scientific research agenda and engaging in various academic exchanges. This 28-member delegation from Wuhan University included professors, staff and PhD students, while a considerable number of our academic staff and research students joined this event.

During the visit, our Head of Department, Prof. Wang Donggen, extended a warm welcome to the delegation, while the Associate Director of LIESMARS, Prof. Wu Huayi, gave an introduction to the LIESMARS at Wuhan University. Prof. Owen Bernhart and Dr. Li Jianfeng delivered an introduction to key research areas of our Department.

Additionally, Dr. Li led a guided tour of the Department’s laboratories and facilities followed by a roundtable session to provide an opportunity for an exchange of ideas amongst the members of the delegation and our research students. This session wrapped up with a lively discussion and sharing of findings by our research students.
