The Public Lecture by Honorary University Fellowship Recipient, Professor Alexander B. Murphy on 19th September 2023 was well-received. Nearly 60 faculty members and research and undergraduate students benefited from Professor Murphy’s insights on “Taking Territory Seriously in an Interconnected, Fluid World: Reflections in the Wake of the Global Populist Turn and the COVID-19 Pandemic”. He further provoked thoughts of geopolitical questions regarding fluidity and network complexity.
Professor Murphy is a renowned political-cultural geographer and a HKBU Honorary University Fellowship Recipient in recognition of his distinguished contributions to geography education and research. He is a Professor Emeritus at the Department of Geography of the University of Oregon in the U.S. and a Visiting Research Professor at the Department of Geography of the University of Hong Kong.
