This programme is offered by Department of Geography for holders of Associate Degree (AD) or Higher Diploma (HD) who wish to continue on to a Bachelor of Social Sciences (Honours) in Environment and Resources Management.
Programme Description

A non-government-funded honours undergraduate programme.

A full-time programme which is normally completed in 2 years.

Provide students with a foundational knowledge in both the natural and social sciences in order to apply interdisciplinary approaches in studying and analyzing environmental issues.

Deepen students’ appreciation of natural environment and understanding of healthy ecological systems and a sustainable environment.

Develop students’ knowledge and ability to utilize environmental research methodologies, ecological field skills and statistical tools to identify and critically analyze environmental and conservation issues in the local, regional and international contexts.

Strengthen students’ sensitivity to conflicts and challenges in current issues concerning environmental conservation, urban development and resource management.

Sharpen students’ understanding of the contents and impacts of specific environmental policies and legislations and planning requirements pertaining to environmental management.

Bachelor of Social Sciences (Honours) in Environment and Resources Management awarded by Hong Kong Baptist University.
Career Prospects
Graduates will be well equipped with the practical skills for an array of environment-related professions. They include: environmental protection and conservation agencies, environmental consultancy, environmental management related institutions, non-government organizations, green groups, businesses and civil service. Students would also have the possibility of moving on to postgraduate studies.
Admission Requirements
To be eligible for admission, a candidate should hold
- an Associate Degree (AD) in Environmental Conservation Studies or related disciplines from any of the local/overseas recognized institutions; or
- a relevant Higher Diploma (HD) from any recognized institutions.
Candidates who possess equivalent qualifications are to be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
Students are expected to complete all programme pre-requisite and General Education courses in their AD/HD studies. Otherwise, they may have to complete additional units of study to make up for the programme pre-requisite and General Education courses at College of International Education (CIE), Hong Kong Baptist University.
